Location A great place to have a rest after an exciting day! Hotel «Maratscher Kunst & Kulturhotel» is located in Lagundo. This hotel is located 1 km from the city center. You can take a walk and explore the neighbourhood area of the hotel — Wildspitze, Mittelstation Ski Lift and Bergbahnen Sölden. At the hotel You can stop by the bar. If you travel by car, you can park in a parking zone. The following services are available At the hotel for winter sports fans: a skiing area. Get ready for a fun and exciting vacation! Here’s what you will find on the premises: a library, a bowling club and a picnic area. To book an excursion, consult the tour assistance desk of the hotel. Take your pet with you. Pets are allowed. If you want to make your journey even more comfortable, you can order a transfer. At the guests’ disposal, there’s also private check-in and check-out. The staff of the hotel will be happy to talk to you in English, Italian and German. Room amenities The room is warmly decorated and has everything you need to have a rest after a long eventful day. There is a shower and a TV. Please note that the listed services may not be available in all the rooms.

So good we rerouted our trip and went back!
The rooms were very clean and comfortable with amazing views in ever direction. The next morning, she served up a fantastic breakfast with fresh cheese and meats, breads, fruits some of which were from her garden, and much more. Unfortunately we had only planned on staying one night but we liked it there so much we rerouted our trip and came back a few days later and stayed two more nights to relax and explore the area of Lagundo.
I highly recommend staying here if you get a chance.

Small family run hotel with a warm welcome

Disappointing
We arrived in the evening after a long journey to find that the room we’d booked - “Cello” - described as “terrace balconies with a beautiful view of the local vineyard and high Alps of the Texel Range” did indeed have a balcony and view BUT was on a busy road! This was disappointing and disturbing given that we’d read on the hotel website a description that said “we are situated in pretty countryside in a QUIET spot surrounded by orchards”. Yes, Lagundo/Algund is a very pleasant little town with many orchards and surrounded by mountains but we booked the room with the expectation that we’d wake up to the sound of chirping birds not busses, trucks and motorcycles!
Well, on seeing our disappointment, the owner very ‘kindly’ offered us a much quieter room on the other side of the hotel. Although it was a very tiny room, we felt it would be better than to have the noise. BUT, she said ….that room comes at a higher price (150 Euro/night instead of 118 Euro, which we’d undertaken to pay)!! No act of kindness, no goodwill shown under the circumstances! As it was late and we just wanted to get unpacked and settled we agreed to pay the higher price.
So, we ended up in the “Rilke” room – attractive, aesthetic, nice balcony over-looking the very pleasant garden and Meran in the distance. Another BUT …. the room was tiny and the bathroom even tinier! The shower was a pokey corner unit which any large person would have found difficult to use. There was nowhere to put our toiletry bags other than on the floor. There was nowhere to put our suitcases other than outside on the balcony. The “Rilke” is sandwiched between two other rooms and separated by paper thin walls so we could hear our neighbours walking around and hear their conversations! The ventilation was extremely poor and uncomfortably hot in July! There was no tea/coffee making facility in the room and often nobody was around in the hotel so you couldn’t always get a hot drink.
On the positive side, the hotel is well-located for walking. The owner does have artistic flair and there are some very nice aesthetic touches to the place. The rooms are individually decorated, the breakfast room and verandah are very nice and peaceful. We enjoyed the breakfasts – there was a nice range to choose from (although sometimes left-overs were doctored and served up the next day). One of the owner’s friends, a very lovely young woman called Claudia was helping out during our stay and she was always very friendly and helpful. The owner does give some very good restaurant suggestions.
If we hadn’t booked a week’s stay in advance, we wouldn’t have stayed! We felt very upset at having to pay higher prices. In our opinion, it was unjustified to ask us to pay the difference, we should have at least been offered the quieter room as an exchange. Where's the hospitality other guests talk about? In the end she did give us a symbolic reduction and charged us Euro 138 per night, however, with a different attitude our rather unpleasant stay could have been a lot different.
Would we return? NO. Would we recommend the hotel? NO.
